Glazes

Glazes are a combination of clay materials the primarily utilize a flux to melt the materials and form the silica into a glass. In my work, I typically only use glazes as a liner glaze (on the inside of the vessel) and inside the foot ring.

RF Studio Celadon Blue (Adapted) ^10

The RF Studio Celadon Blue is a glaze from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls that I used all throughout my undergrad and continue to use as the primary liner glaze on my work. It is a trusty, not runny blue Celadon type glaze that works great in any kind of atmospheric firing. The atmospheric is important as it gets its blue color from a reduced atmosphere. I have found it is the bluest when down-fired in reduction. I have adapted this glaze from the initial recipe to use Glaze Rite as the suspender.
